Approximately 1,500 commuters were killed in the train, which was derailed and hit by the Tsunami. Most of the villagers got into the train compartments to safeguard their lives.
A tourist guide is explaining to the tourists at the Hikkaduwa Railway Station as what has happened to the train and the passengers on last year's boxing day.
The Hikkaduwa Railway Station officials complain that, it's a problem for them to control the crowd, which comes to take pictures at the Railway Station.
"Queen of the Sea" was bound from Colombo to Matara on 26th of December 2004. It was roared by the Tsunami in Peraliya. Approximately 1,500 people were killed. The villagers of Peraliya boarded the train to seek refuge, and most of them were killed as well. The wrecked train was kept as a landmark in Peraliya until recently. The residents of Peraliya protested to remove the wrecked compartments from the vicinity.
